Pomatias elegans feeds on dead leaves, moss and rotting wood.
The Elegant Striated ( Pomatias elegans ) has a conical shell with 4 to 5 very convex whorls. It is brown to purplish with darker spots, or whitish with pale reddish spots. It is marked with fine spiral streaks forming a fine checkerboard sculpture. The opening is almost circular. The back of the foot has a calcareous operculum to block the entrance to the shell when the animal is inside.
